What to expect

The Samichlaus procession in Stans sets off from the Tellenmatt school buildings on Saturday evening, with Schmutzlis, torchbearers, and bell ringers. The route runs along Engelbergstrasse and Schmiedgasse to Dorfplatz, then via Nägeligasse, the St. Karli roundabout, and Stansstaderstrasse back to Dorfplatz and Schulhausplatz Tellenmatt. It’s a procession to watch, not a meet-and-greet, and the bells, torches, and crowds can be intense for sensitive or very young kids.
