Who’s behind it

Hi, I’m Dana. I’m Canadian, I’ve lived in Switzerland for eight years, and my husband is Swiss. What started as a move abroad has turned into a life I can’t imagine anywhere else. We live just outside Zurich with our daughter, and I work full-time in marketing for a global Swiss company.

When I’m not working, I’m usually planning our next weekend outing, talking my family into coming along, or looking up something about Swiss life I probably should have figured out years ago.

That’s how Swiss Mom Life started. I love living here, but raising a family in Switzerland comes with a lot nobody explains: how kindergarten works, for example, or why carving a turnip and walking around with it in the dark is a perfectly normal childhood tradition.

It began on Instagram as @swiss.mom.life, which is now a community of more than 30,000 parents. This site is where I put everything I learn: the family events worth going to, the places we love, the Swiss traditions we’re still getting used to, and the practical details that make parenting here easier. I hope it saves you some research and gives you a good reason to get out of the house this weekend.

How events are chosen

Events come straight from organizers, venues, museums, and tourism offices. Before an event goes up, its dates, times, prices, ages, and booking details are checked against the organizer’s own information, and each event page shows when it was last checked.

Plans do change, so it’s always worth confirming with the organizer before you head out.
