What to expect
Once a year the upper Old Town, Waisenhausplatz, and Bundesplatz turn into one long market of woven onion braids and wreaths, plus ceramics, textiles, and toy stalls. There are onion figures to spot and cheese and onion pie to taste. It’s busy from early morning, so strollers are easier in the side alleys.
Good to know
- Official hours are 06:00–18:00, but some vendors start at 04:00
- Come by train; there's no easy parking
