What to expect
Basel’s Christmas market fills Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz with stalls, decorations, and seasonal food. With kids, head to the Märchenwald on Münsterplatz, where they can dip candles, try tin casting, decorate gingerbread, and watch a marionette theater’s Christmas story. The two squares are a short walk apart.
Good to know
- The Märchenwald opens at 13:30 on weekdays and 11:00 on weekends, and closes for the season after December 22.
- On December 23, Münsterplatz closes at 18:00 and Barfüsserplatz at 20:00.
- December weekends get busy.
