Wooden chalets run by local and visiting traders fill the Place du Coq-d’Inde in Neuchâtel’s old town for most of Advent. The organizers pitch it as a place to meet and linger as much as to shop. For the kids’ program (fairy tales, face painting, and Père Noël), combine it with the lakeside market at the Jardin Anglais, which runs from December 4.
