How this site is paid for
Swiss Mom Life is free to read. Some of it is funded by affiliate links and brand partnerships. Here’s how that works and how we label it.
The short version
If we earn money from something, or got it for free, we say so right next to it.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site, mostly in gift guides, are affiliate links. If you buy something through one, the shop pays us a small commission. You pay the same price. These items carry an “Affiliate link” label.
[List the affiliate programs you join here, for example: “We are a member of the [shop name] partner program.”]
Gifted products
Sometimes a brand sends us a product to try. If we recommend something we received for free, it carries a “Gifted” label. Being sent something doesn’t guarantee it gets featured.
Paid partnerships
When a brand, venue, or tourism partner pays us to feature them, on Instagram or on this site, the content is labeled as an ad. If we ever offer paid event listings, they will be labeled the same way.
Why we label things
Swiss law requires advertising to be clearly recognizable as advertising (Federal Act against Unfair Competition, UWG), and the Swiss Commission for Fairness in Advertising expects influencers and publishers to disclose paid partnerships and gifts. Beyond the rules, you should know when someone has been paid to recommend something.
